Anyone else on Hot Coupon World??
I received 2 infractions.
I think it's pretty darn rude of them! I understanding that they're just following their guidelines, but still.
Well, the first one was a warning, because I posted about using coupons in a fraudlent way. Mind you, I was not posting it to BRAG to others, I was posting to say I had made a mistake, and so had the cashier, by not catching it! And then someone went on later to say that Walgreens knew that this was going on with the coupons anyways. Wonderful.
And then yesterday I posted to a cloth diapering question.
I have a bunch of info, since we plan on CD-ing our kiddos when we get that far. ;)
I also included websites, so that the reader could check them easily. Well, my mistake, apparently you're not supposed to be helpful and post websites.
I recieved a 5 point infraction.
I don't think I'll be posting on HCW very often anymore. :/
And as for this blog:
Sorry I'm so slow!!
I'll get back to it soon! ;)

$40 weekly budget, where'd it go this week?
This week I did pretty good. I had actually started this $160 a month budget in March, and I still had $45 left for this week.
The first stop was Walgreens:

The first stop was Walgreens:
I bought 1 jumbo pack of size 3 diapers on sale for $5.99, one pack of wipes on sale for $1.99, 1 bath poof for $1, and 2 glade scented oil plugins for 4.79. I had a $3 coupon for the plug-ins, and used $10 register rewards from last week, so I spent $2.65 out of pocket. The diapers and wipes will be going to my brother and sister-in-law. They're expecting their first in May, and only got 1 pack of diapers, and 2 tubs of wipes at the shower!
The next stop I made was Kroger:
Lucky for me, my Kroger doubles dollars! Here are my highlights:
So I bought 2 boxes of Gen mills cereal on sale 2 for $5, and got $2 off.
So I bought 2 boxes of Gen mills cereal on sale 2 for $5, and got $2 off.
The Crest Pro Health was 3 for $7, and I had 3 $1 coupons that were doubled, so I paid $1.00
The Oral B toothbrushes were also on sale and I had coupons, and I paid $1 each for 3.
I paid .50 for the Promise Active Super shots, and .29 for the 3 pack of Orbit.
The Bic Razors were on sale for $3.99, and I had the $3.00 off coupon, making them .99.
The Soleil razors were on sale for $3.99, and I had the $2 coupon, making them $1.99

The Satin care were regular price $2.69, but I had 2 $1 coupons doubled, so I paid .69 each.
All in all, I spent $30.73, and SAVED $42.03
I'm also blessed to have a fruit and meat market.
Our pantry is decent, and the freezer is full, so I bought:

Kroger savings, first big couponing trip!
A very late night post, but I'm up, so why not?!
No pictures this time, as we've started using some of the items already. ;)
I don't feel like I got as good of a deal (I thought I'd only be paying $6, but wound up paying $10 and some change.) Chalk it up to being a couponing newbie! Anyways, this is what I bought:
8 gatorade
3 Tidy cats cat litter (Hopefully our cat won't have a problem switching litters, she's picky. ;) )
2 Grands biscuits (.30 coupon doubled)
2 bags of goldfish (after I figured out that the Hagen daz were smaller, I felt I should get something else.)
2 Temptations cat treats ($1 coupon, doubled)
1 bag Kraft Cheese
1 Windex (.40 off, or .75, can't remember which one I used!)
1 glade candle ($1 coupon, doubled)
1 cottonelle 4 pack, I had a .25 off coupon, but forgot to get it out. :/
So, my first mistake was switching the Hagen Daz for the more expensive gold fish. And I had actually had 3 senarios planned out, but they did not have half the items I wanted.
They messed up on my reciept also. The cashier missed 7 bottles of Gatorade! So I went back thinking I should get $5 back (Since it was part of the 10 items), but since she didn't charge me, I got $1.50 back. To be honest I'm still a bit confused, but I'm horrible at math. It's my weakest area, so I'm sure it'll take me a bit longer to get this down pat.
Oh well, better luck next time! ;)
Also this week, I did run to Walgreens. I'm doing the free printer ink refill (black, so it's worth $10.) Hopefully it'll work when we pick it up saturday! I also bought some pop, 4/$11. I paid $15 oop, and got $3 back in Register rewards. I used that with a .99 cent coupon and bought 3 softsoap, for which I paid .15.
We went to Meijer for the rest of our groceries, and while I don't have a list of every item I bought, we spent $22.35, and saved $16.40.
This is the first month I've set a monthly budget, and it's $160. I wound up spending $42.28 instead of the $40 I've planned for each week, but not bad at all!

The first area I started cutting back in: Paper products!
About a year after Mr. Eum and I got married, I decided to research cloth diapers. We're no where near ready to start our family, but I love thinking about it, and planning ahead for what I would like to do!
I found out about Cloth diapers. Looking over all of the information, I decided that it would be the best route for us to take when we have our little ones! But that is a post for another time.
Because I decided I'd cloth our future babies, I figured, why not use cloth myself?
It's a way to save quite a bit of money every year, and you don't have to deal with gross, uncomfortable, chemical laden pads so close to your body.
Some women think it's gross (and of course spouses and families may not be that open to the idea either,) however, I find that they are extremely comfortable, and even my husband thought it was a fine idea.
I have a pail that I put them in when I am done using them, and at the end of my cycle, I'll soak them in cold water with oxyclean, and then wash them in warm with a load of towels. Don't worry, the heat from the washer kills any germs! Then I run them in the drier, and I'm good to go!
This is just what works best for me. There are different options, like keeping them in a wet pail (A bucket full of water so they can soak) and some hand wash and air dry them.
Are you really wondering how the savings add up? Well, Gladrags says that while 5 years of disposibles would generally cost you $455, There delux kit (which gives you 12 daypads, 3 nights, and a carry bag) will only cost $190.
However, mine costed less. ;) I've bought from a few different WAHM companies. my favorites are:
www.punkyspads.com (Washable and dryer-safe, well-priced, and high quality, trim.)
www.vajpads.com (good quality, though a bit on the bulky side, in my opinion.)
www.homemademama.com (wonderful quality, a bit higher priced, but come in super-soft fabrics like velour, and silk.)
www.saucytots.com (Mimi's Dreams, she is very slow to ship, but her pads are very trim, and worth the wait, I think!)
I recommend trying 1-2 of each brand you'd like when you start out, to figure out which style fits you best.
I personally have around 8 liners, 8-9 daypads, and 2 overnights, and this works perfectly for me. Every woman will vary, of course.
If you are more of a tampon person, you can also check out the Diva cup or Lunette. It's reusable cup, you just insert, and dump every few hours! It's about $35 I believe for the Diva cup, but it will last you for many, many years! They are made of silicone, are latex free, and hypo-allergenic.
Finally, you won't be annoyed when you hear the Always phrase: "Have a happy period!" You know you will, using comfortable cute little cloth pads, your Diva cup, and knowing that you are saving money while helping your environment!
